Mastering adhesive indirect restorations

Adhesive technology has evolved rapidly in the past decades. The main challenge for dental adhesives is to provide an equally effective bond to two hard tissues of different natures. Bonding to enamel has been proven to be durable. Bonding to dentin is far more intricate.

Additionally, there is the potential interference of surface smear over the bonded surface.

When dealing with adhesive indirect restorations, not only the adhesion plays a very important role, but other challenges will incur for the long-term success of the restoration like the indirect restorative material selection and the tooth preparation design.

This course aims to review the current state-of-the-art of dental adhesives, their chemical composition, and characteristics with a direct effect on the adhesive properties and performance.
